Seems to me the people who criticize thought processes like “you should not have to suffer needlessly just to be able to afford food and shelter” have never really had a day of true hardship in their life.
Adding this since people seem to be interested in sharing their personal opinions about how "suffering is good." I'll stop you right there. Let's not normalize slaving yourself away at work just because you believe it builds a good work ethic or some bullshit. You know what else builds a good work ethic? Not actively suffering needlessly. Y'know, suffering for the sake of suffering.
People talk about a "livable wage", but really what we want is a comfortable wage. Livable is the bare fucking minimum, like eating nothing but rice, having two sets of clothes, and sharing a two bed apartment with four people. That's what livable is, and it's not worth striving for.
Let's push for a comfortable wage instead of a livable one.

The fact that we can't even implement progressive taxation on housing/land ownership proves that it's a plutocracy/oligarchy.
As does the fact that we can't implement publicly financed elections.
Or a public option for healthcare.
