I worked in Toys R Us for roughy 5 years - from 1996 to late 2001!
I was one of the guys you brought the ticket to, before they switched off the ticket system (for video games) for a good chunk of that time. It was a dream come true for me! Great college job, great people, really fun retail job (October through December were pretty wild; lots of overtime).
I was very sad when they went bankrupt, even though it was many years after my tenure.
And yes, we held games for friends or fellow employees, or “regulars”. Not often, but it happened
