I work with Jeff frequently on apartments.com commercials and I can confirm he does this all the time. He’s probably one of the most genuine people I’ve met, and before the pandemic he constantly invited everyone on set to come see him play jazz piano at a club here in LA. His security team always seems super frustrated because he insists on talking to everyone, and even waits in the food truck line with the crew, when most talent just has assistants pick up their food to bring to them in their trailers. He’s truly a lovely human.
I also met Jeff Goldblum at a party once. He came in around 8pm (party started at 6:30) wearing sunglasses. He proceeded to walk to the closest group of people to the door, said, "Hey, how's it going?" Stood there for a few seconds, nodded, then walked to the next group and did the exact same thing.
