Maybe that's why Steve took Wanda under his wing in Civil War. I guess he felt he could relate to what she did and maybe felt responsible for her because of that. Too bad we didn't get to see more interactions between them outside of Civil War.
The MCU got him so right. Better then many of his runs in the comics. And Chris Evans was so absolutely perfect for the role. Of all the excellent casting they did he really stands out.

I always felt this was his greatest power. The ability to say exactly what someone needed to hear in the moment.
