Some younger redditors may have no idea how radical these parents were. Being gay was illegal, anti sodomy laws were in effect - sodomy broadly defined, included any form of gay sex. No one was out. Out wasn’t even really a concept in 1973. These parents are rock stars. incredible.

Village Cigars and the corner of Christopher Street and 7th Ave. Love that place with all my heart and soul. Don't live there but worked there every day for the past 8 years. Tip my hat to these neighbors they really paved the way, Cheers to their courage for their children and themselves

I remember when my daughter came out to me. I already knew she was but I’ll always remember the look of confusion and relief on her face. She was confused by how I already knew. I told her I’m your dad nobody knows you better than me. I still don’t think she’s told her mother or her side of the family yet.
