I can see that being super heartwarming as a kids’ book tbh. The mom keeps cooking badly but in the end the kid still knows she loves them and she’s good at lots of other things, and says it’s ok that she burns the toast sometimes. Maybe end with a funny joke about how it’s still a relief when she calls out for pizza. Adorable.

Chapter 1: I said there was pizza at home. - There was no pizza at home
Chapter 2: the chocolate chips in the chocolate chip cookies were raisins. I, as a mother, am the literal devil!
Chapter 3: I tried to murder my son by hiding the broccoli beneath the mashed potatoes
