And the crazy thing is, a coyote weighs like three times as much as a bald eagle. Like all flighted birds, they're much lighter than they look.

As you can imagine, it leaves them something of a "glass cannon." An eagle can FUCK YOU UP like you wouldn't believe, but they can't take the beating that a terrestrial animal of similar volume could. They bones are thin, brittle, and often hollow. They have very little "extra" blood, too. Which is to say, they can bleed out from a wound that would be no biggie to a terrestrial mammal. Sacrifices have been made to keep their mass low enough for flight.
