If voting day became a holiday in the US, every big retail outlet and restaurant would be scheduling their full staff and advertising "voting day" sales, just like every other national holiday.
Why don't.... They just do it on a weekend? Voting is compulsory in Australia, but it's always on a Saturday. I understand people also work on a weekend, but it allows a greater portion of the population to get there
