They still cut the plastic usage down by a lot. A little bit of progress is better than nothing, and it sets the stage for more in the future.
Edit: a lot of people are skimming over my comment and assuming I’m defending Nestle’s use of child/slave labor and their damming of fresh water sources that indigenous peoples use to survive. Fuck Nestle, but hating on them for saving on plastic waste, regardless of their selfish intentions, doesn’t help anyone. Downvote me all you want.
That looks like cellophane. While cellophane can't be recycled, it is made from wood, like paper, and not from oil, like plastics are. It is also truly biodegradable like paper.
That doesn't make it good, but it does make it different. It still requires some nasty chemicals to make it, and releases methane when it decomposes.
