I row on the Potomac in Georgetown, DC with my high school crew team everyday, and we wear masks because of school policies but also because of pollen allergies. The masks help with keeping pollen out of our noses so we don't get congested from allergies.
edit: just for clarification, we only started wearing masks this year and we realized that they’re good for allergies, we hadn’t worn them in the past.
