Democratic Representative Jim McGovern took to Twitter Saturday in order to call out Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for recently comparing mask mandates to the Holocaust.

"She is a deeply troubled person who needs to apologize & resign," McGovern wrote, before tagging House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and imploring him to "address her antisemitism."

Rep. Greene’s anti-Semitic language comparing the systematic murder of 6 million Jews during the Holocaust to wearing a mask is beyond disturbing. Greene, a controversial congresswoman from Georgia, spoke on Real America's Voice show The Water Cooler with Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody earlier this week. During her appearance, she accused Nancy Pelosi of being a "hypocrite" after the Speaker of the House asked GOP members to prove they have been vaccinated before allowing members in the House chamber without a mask.

"You know, we can look back at a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany, and this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about," Greene said.

Pelosi's office confirmed with Newsweek that the mask mandates in the House chamber would remain in effect until all representatives and congressional staff members have been vaccinated.

Greene and several other Republican representatives were fined $500 and given a warning letter for being on the House floor without a mask.

In addition to McGovern, Greene's recent comments also drew backlash from a number of her fellow lawmakers.

Representative Liz Cheney, a fellow Republican, tweeted the video of Greene on The Water Cooler and bluntly stated: "This is evil lunacy."

Rhode Island Congressman David Cicilline was one of many others who also took to condemning Greene for the mask-Holocaust comparison.

"The Holocaust: The systematic murder of 6 million Jews. Mask-wearing: A simple act that costs you nothing and saves lives. Marjorie Taylor Greene: A troubled person who is unfit to serve in Congress," he wrote on Twitter.

Adam Kinzinger, a Republican congressman from Illinois, also took issue with Greene's comment, tweeting Saturday morning: "Absolute sickness."

On Friday, the American Jewish Congress also voiced its criticism of the Georgia congresswoman: "You can never compare health-related restrictions with yellow stars, gas chambers & other Nazi atrocities. Such comparisons demean the Holocaust & contaminate American political speech. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene must immediately retract and apologize."

Greene has been scrutinized in the past few weeks for speaking out on mask mandates. Additionally, she called out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Saturday, attempting to blame the New York Democratic congresswoman for the recent attacks on Jewish people.

.@AOC you’re responsible for attacks on Jewish people bc of your hate-Israel stance against Israel’s right to defend itself from from terrorists Hamas, calling Israel an apartheid state, & supporting terrorists groups.

Aligning yourself with terrorists means your a terrorist. https://t.co/UJi6uGopx2 pic.twitter.com/scbL9cKuGD — Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸 (@mtgreenee) May 22, 2021

Greene has previously been under fire for other controversial topics and conspiracy theories. In January, she described the 2018 deadly Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, a "false flag" operation, according to CNN.

"You should be ashamed of yourself and resign from congress. Conspiracy theorists don't deserve a seat in the people's house," the Parkland chapter of March For Our Lives tweeted in response to Greene.

Newsweek reached out to Greene's office for comment.

She’d be the first one to advocate concentration camps for those she deems undesirables.

everything that they don't like is "like the Holocaust" and all I hear is them downplaying how horrible the Holocaust was.. same thing when they compare shit they don't like to being "like slavery"... I would say that all of this rhetoric is intentional, but usually comes out of the mouth of really stupid people
