My grandfather struggled with alcoholism and painkiller addiction and my father was an alcoholic, I just simply don't want to get addicted cause it looks like it might be in my genes
I just put coke in a glass and pretend I added alcohol to it. If you go to a bar just give the bartender a big tip and then tell them you want your coke in a normal glass.
I saw a video that posited that the reason some people get weirded out or agitated when you make a choice to do NOT do something they do is because it calls their choice into question. It introduces the idea that what they do may be wrong.
I assure you, I have to explain a lot because I voluntarily chose to stop drinking around age 40. I wasn't having an abuse issue or medical issue. It just no longer appealed to me. It freaks people out.
