On the bright side, I'm excited about seeing what C3 brings!

But who’s on the council of Tal’Dorei?

Honestly, not so surprised.

In C1, after the Chroma Conclave, they had a 'year break' in game, and then the last few arcs, while having some great moments, didn't have the same narrative weight, until the Vecna arc started up. Which I think worked for Vox Machina. It was a light hearted game, and there didn't need to be an overarching threat to keep the band together.

Might Nein doesn't have the same vibe. These aren't a people who need to finish their last quests together. They all have lives outside of their party. While they clearly developed love and care for each other over their journey, they need to get back to their lives. At this point, they are capable, except probably Caleb, of finishing their quests on their own.

How many times has Veth outright said 'I love doing this, but I need to go home'?

Fjord knows where his captain is, and is capable of getting revenge on the man who started his journey whenever he wants, if he wants it

Jester has reintroduced her parents and can return to her home whenever she wants.

Caduceus rescued/restored his family.

Beau has gotten her justice, gotten recognition, and now has a place in the cobalt soul.

Yasha seems to finally be on the path of figuring herself out.

In this final adventure, Caleb probably has everything he needs to go back in time if he so wishes, but can also just kick back with Essek while trying to figure out what to do about Trent.

In the course of this adventure they found a lot of closure, but in doing so, their old lives are calling back to them. It makes sense then, that after stopping a world ending catastrophe, they decide to stop.

We'll probably get a few one shots. They probably aren't done with the Hag, dealing with Trent has to happen eventually, maybe a Yasha themed one shot where she becomes the ultimate champion of the storm lord. But nothing that require the campaign drag out even more.

I'm looking forward to C3. After the Darrington Brigade, I get the feeling next campaign might be a little less dour, maybe a little more campey. Liam will probably pick something with more hit points, Travis is clearly itching for more spell slots, Sam and Laura might finally get to pick their own character/class, Ashley will actually be around for more than half the campaign, and Marisha will probably just do whatever she wants to do. Can't predict what Tallesin will do, but who can predict the mind of an eldritch abomination taken human form.
