Oh goodness, thats wonderful. I relate so much. My ex husband had never owned a pet in his life before we got together. One kitten, two kittens (sadly she got cancer and passed away at 4), one more, move to the country, one dog, two dogs, one sheep. All rescues. There were nights in winter I went to go bed and there were four furry kids including the massive great dane and a six foot two man in a queen size bed. I drew the line at Dolores the sheep. I got approximately 24 square inches in the top right corner of the bed. I spent a fair bit if time on the lounge. He would always make sure that they all had a bbq lunch on the weekend. We did so they had to as well. He was a good dad to them. Lots of lovely photos. Not an an animal person he said. Riiiight.
My husband thought cats were unfriendly and unloving. He didn’t realize that only applied to strangers. We finally got a cat after years of me begging and tolerating his sled dogs...and he’s in love. The cat follows him everywhere, demands to be picked up and soothes his anxiety by purring.
