If you're truly worried about homeless people, you should be pushing for actual solutions. A bench in a subway station is not a housing solution. Tell your congressmen and governor and mayor to stop wasting money on useless shit. Stop interfering with people who are trying to come up with realistic solutions when you have no alternatives to offer. Free housing for the homeless can't have all the amenities we, as the middle class, expect. Their alternative is to sleep outside. Stop enforcing strict building and zoning codes for these homeless solutions.

There should be benches in the subway and the police should enforce the rules that you can't sleep on them. And vote out any asshole that tries to stop people from being charitable.

I worked with people experiencing homelessness in NYC. The shelter capacity is there, and the transit system is not a suitable replacement for those who can't/won't take advantage of it.

Doesn't help anyone to ignore the people. They are less safe, riders are less safe, and everyone loses.
