Ovarian cancer took my mom. I recently revisited her social media feeds (weird part of dying these days is you have this strange relic of your existence that lives on, a sort of digital ghost) and spotted this quote she posted sometime after being diagnosed with terminal cancer; “at some point you have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening”. Be well and live like we all should.
My wife lost her ovaries and uterus to cancer at 26 before we could have biological kids.
Today, we finally have her hormones worked out, and we are adoptive parents to the most beautiful 3 month old baby girl. Everyone says it, but you really do love them every bit as much as a bio kid.
STAY ON TOP OF YOUR DOCTORS ABOUT HORMONES! You NEED periodic blood work to check your estrogen levels. Do NOT let them just prescribe based on "how you feel". Work with a good endocrinologist who knows what they are doing - especially since you still have your uterus. Those things are finicky!
