I think both statements are true. Yes, it is a good thing. And yes, those who were not able to profit from it because it didn't exist when they suffered will understandably be pissed off jealous that new generations do not have to suffer like they did. I believe the general term for this phenomenon is "progress".
About 3 years ago I finally got tired enough of paying 7% interest so I paid off my student loans from my retirement account. Now I'm "paying" myself that money, and will continue to be paying myself after other people's loans are forgiven. Do I still support loan forgiveness? Yes. But please also FIX the underlying problem! Cap interest rates, cap college costs, remove the profit motive from colleges, something, I don't know what, but fix it, don't just put a band-aid on it and have the problem start to accumulate immediately after the forgiveness.

For everyone with student loans,
interest free ends in September, try to pay off the principal as much as you can.
Also as far as I can tell, there is nothing stopping the companies to just add the interest accrual over the last year.
