Those gulls know exactly if the person eating a herring is Dutch or a tourist. Tourists are generally more ‘unwieldy’ when eating herring like that, and the gulls know it. They snatch away their meal because it’s taking them too long to eat it. If memory serves me right, this is in front of the fishmonger near ‘het Binnenhof’, there are always loads of tourists there eating their first ‘maatje’. You gotta be quick and eat your fish with confidence lol
