So somebody really wants to live in a state where they can marry their first cousin, have sex with farm animals AND smoke weed?

As much as I agree with the goal of this, I absolutely hate the backwards logic that is being used here in the top-right and bottom-left.

The "Why is X illegal if Y is legal??" suggests one of two possible fixes:

- Make X legal, or

- Make Y illegal.

In situations like this, where Y is obviously bad (marrying your first cousin, or having sex with farm animals), the solution is to make Y also illegal -- not make X (buying weed) legal.

For this sort of argument to actually lead to the desired conclusion of X being made legal, the comparison should be made with a Y that people *don't* want to be made illegal. Things like "Why is recreational weed illegal when drinking alcohol isn't?" Because then the only counters to that statement would be (1) showing that recreational weed is more dangerous than alcohol (but it isn't), (2) making alcohol illegal (which no one wants), or (3) making weed legal (yay, the desired outcome).

I live in Maryland, where it is legal to marry your first cousin. Maryland was also one of the first states to allow gay marriage. We wanted to make sure you could marry ANY of your cousins.
