I wish we'd known what was coming, the sea change that this comment didn't so much predict as reflect. The cancer was already there but we didn't see the damage until McConnell started filibustering and the Tea Party started winning primaries.
/sigh I'm sad now. The last time we had anything even close to normal governance in this country was when I was eleven years old, that was 1994, then Newt Gingrich threw sand in the gears and "More sand!" has been the Republican party platform ever since.
