In a tweet last night, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) appeared to announce that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) agreed to a debate with her over the Green New Deal.
There’s only one hurdle that needs to be cleared. Greene needs to read all 14 pages of the bill.
Greene, perhaps the most far-right member of Congress, who has espoused conspiracy theories prior to taking office, has been calling for Ocasio-Cortez to debate her and the merits of the Green New Deal over the past few weeks.
“I’m glad I ran into you today @AOC to plan our debate about the Green New Deal. After I finish reading all 14 pages, like we agreed, I’ll schedule time for our debate,” she tweeted, adding the hashtag MTGvsAOC.

While Greene was probably attempting to show how serious she was by saying she’d read the whole bill before the debate, people couldn’t get over that she’d made a big show of needing to read all of 14 pages to prep.
Others noted that for all her bluster about the Green New Deal, she essentially admitted she hadn’t read it.

AOC has not commented on Greene’s assertion they agreed to a debate. We’ve reached out to AOC’s people and will update this if we hear back.
The joke, however, was on Twitter users. This morning, Greene said she already finished the bill, calling it a “Communists manifesto” on Twitter.
