After a year of being told they are essential workers and putting their own and their family's lives at risk, people aren't going to work for less than a living wage.

No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country... By living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level - I mean the wages of decent living.

The first thing my boss did when we opened back up from our shut down was to give me a dollar raise. He said he knew that I could make more on unemployment, but he really needed me to come back so he could stay in business. Just before Christmas he gave me another dollar raise, as we've been busier than he's ever been in the 25 years he's been open and he knew I was taking on a lot more work that what I was originally hired for. Last week he gave me another dollar raise because it's been a year since we shut down and in his words "You keep the shop going and we wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for you".

This. This right here is how you are supposed to treat employees. I am so incredibly lucky to have him as my boss and it hurts my heart knowing other people don't have employers that treat them like they deserve to be treated.
