INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple victims have been reported after shots were fired at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis, according to police.

The incident was reported at the FedEx facility in the 8900 block of Mirabel Road in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Genae Cook said officers were called to the location for shots fired around 11 p.m.

The facility is located near the Indianapolis International Airport.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett released a statement on the mass shooting:

“This morning, Indianapolis residents are confronted with the horrific news of yet another mass shooting, an act of violence that senselessly claimed the lives of eight of our neighbors. As law enforcement works to learn more about this tragedy, our prayers are with the families of those whose lives were cut short.

Thank you to all of our city’s first responders for their tireless work overnight. Their quick response provided critical aid to those injured in the shooting and brought a measure of calm to an otherwise chaotic scene.”

A White House official released a statement on the mass shooting:

“The President will be briefed this morning on the shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. The White House Chief of Staff has been in touch with the Mayor of Indianapolis and the Homeland Security Advisor is in touch with law enforcement officials.”

The FBI will now be assisting IMPD with the investigation into the mass shooting at a FedEx facility.

"We were asked by IMPD to assist in the investigation and we will be looking for any federal nexus," a spokesperson for the FBI told WRTV.

Eight people were found with apparent gunshot wounds at the scene who have died, IMPD Officer Genae Cook said.

The suspect was also found dead after he died by suicide, Cook said.

Several other people have been taken to local hospitals with injuries, Cook said. Additional details about their injuries haven't been released.

The identities of those involved haven't been released.

Cook is asking for all information about this shooting to come from the IMPD Public Affairs Office.

Anyone who was at the scene but left is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana 317-262-TIPS or contact homicide detectives at 317-327-3475.

Those who are scheduled to work at the facility later in the day should contact their supervisors. The facility will be closed for several hours while detectives are at the scene investigating.

FedEx is apparently “reevaluating” their policy of not letting their adult employees have their phones on them following 60 people shot at their facility without any means of communication.

Fucking ridiculous.

Edit: 20 people were directly shot, 60 total injuries. 8 confirmed dead as of the latest press release.

Condolences to the families and all those impacted.

An unusual location for a mass shooting, and in the middle of the night. A very odd situation. We won’t find out much tonight.

Just trying to pay the bills at your shitty night shift warehouse job, and you get killed. My heart goes out to these families who will be completely blindsided by this in the morning.

Suspect has taken his own life, as these guys tend to do.
