In an Arena/Stadium seating 20,000 ppl potentially and almost half-way at capacity. You can still hear a black mother screaming her baby’s name when they walk across the stage.

Their names usually proceeded by air horns.

Is this even a thought among people? Who thinks black people hate education? Been around the planet for 36 years now, and have never heard someone say this.

I can tell you as the son of African(Nigerian) immigrants, I was constantly told education was the only guaranteed way to succeed. First generation African immigrants are actually amongst the most educated group here in the US. Most of the African immigrants I know were encouraged to pursue medicine and other STEM fields from an early age.

That being said I remember being made fun of in school, by mostly my black but also white peers, because I “talked white”. Got called Oreo too. It really confused me growing up because I almost felt like I had to dumb down the things I said around certain people and that I couldn’t be proud to use the things I was learning in the classroom. Looking back it was probably just jealousy because I was always in the higher level classes, but no child should be made to feel as tho they aren’t “acting black” because they like to learn.
