Just to clarify: they “resorted to cannibalism” by eating flesh of a fellow passenger who was already deceased. Sort of an important detail to note

One of the men, Nando Parrado was left for dead after the crash. When he didn't die, someone pulled him back into the plane and he recovered from a severe head injury. He ended up being one of the two men who left the plane and hiked through the mountains to find rescuers. He's a superhero. I can't remember if he's in this picture. He wrote a book about it and is a motivational speaker now.

They did so much more than resort to cannibalism. The cannibalism is such a small part of their story. I've read interviews with some survivors that were also frustrated that this is what the media fixated on.

This story is the ultimate "will to live" story. I never could have done what they did. And I don't mean the cannibalism. I mean the multiple insane attempts to hike out to get help that failed. They came back and tried again. They didn't just sit there and survive for 72 days in the snow. Their will to survive was insane. What they had to face and do to find help was superhuman. 99.99% of people would have just sat there and died.
