Big V calls me occasionally to say my phone plan has been discontinued, and that I have to choose a new one.
The options are similar to yours.
I tell them I'll continue with my existing plan, or close the account. I know eventually they'll take me up on the account closure, but I don't want to pay them more money.
I did the math on an 'unlimited' plan vs the less expensive 2nd tier plan for a cell phone company several years ago and the 'unlimited' plan gave you less data at a slower speed. The 2nd tier plan had a set limit and you got normal speed up to that limit. The 'unlimited' plan had a different set limit at normal speed and then slow speed for the rest of the month. If you were to use your data non stop at the allotted speeds on the 'unlimited' plan for the whole month it was less data than what was given in the 2nd tier.

You’re probably grandfathered into a plan that no longer exists. I had a similar situation with AT&T. Ride it for as long as you can!!!
