What pissed me off more is that I knew where that scene was going as soon as I saw the cop car roll up in the background, because I've known too many people personally that have dealt with shit exactly like that and it feels like it's inescapable, and knowing that it's such a common occurrence in real life that I was conditioned to expect it to happen in the show before it did.

I have a black friend, a lawyer, married, financially doing pretty well, who occasionally posts on Facebook some of the stupid shit that she does or is subject to because of racism in the US. Yesterday she commented about being sick of cashiers warning her that some particular item is not food stamp eligible, before her wallet is even out. Or that she always buys something when she goes to a store, because she's afraid security will think she is shoplifting otherwise.
