WASHINGTON (AP) — Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News on Friday, arguing the cable news giant, in an effort to boost faltering ratings, falsely claimed that the voting company had rigged the 2020 election.

Attorneys for Dominion said Fox News’ behavior differs greatly from that of other media outlets that reported on the claims.

Though Dominion serves 28 states, until the 2020 election it had been largely unknown outside the election community.

A rival technology company, Smartmatic USA , also sued Fox News over election claims for a similar sum of money.

Unlike Dominion, Smartmatic’s participation in the 2020 election was restricted to Los Angeles County. »

Hugo Boss tells Chinese customers it will continue to purchase Xinjiang cotton, whilst own website says it has never used it

German luxury fashion house Hugo Boss has told its Chinese customers that it will continue to “purchase and support” Xinjiang cotton, despite its website saying it has never used it.

Hugo Boss did not respond to HKFP’s questions as to whether it is sending different messages to Chinese and Western customers.

Last September, Hugo Boss told NBC News that its supplier Lu Thai had “reassured” it that Xinjiang cotton had never been used in its clothing. »

Fox News sued for $1.6bn over false election claims

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.6bn (£1.2bn) defamation lawsuit against Fox News over false claims during the 2020 election.

The company became the target of continued false claims spread by former president Donald Trump and his allies in an attempt to undermine the 2020 election.

Dominion has also sued Mr Giuliani, Ms Powell, and the CEO of Minnesota-based MyPillow, Mike Lindell, over the claims. »
