In The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Wes Anderson randomly cast a St Bernard he saw in the streets of Görlitz, Germany, while they were filming. He also avoided hiring an animal wrangler by having the dog’s owner appear in the scene.

There are several newspapers and documents shown throughout this movie. Unlike most films, each newspaper contains full stories about the headline and many give away significant plot details that aren't revealed until later. All of the newspaper articles were written by director Wes Anderson.

I live in this city! Many movies were filmed partially in Görlitz because of its unique old town. The entrance hall from the grand budapest hotel was filmed in a former shopping center next to my old school and current work place. I purchased my first videogame in this huge hall!

I also remember that I met Kate Winslet at the time when the reader was filmed there. But I was too small to understand, who she was.
