when I was a young teenager living in the country, I used to feed a raccoon table scraps after dinner. She was obviously very pregnant. One day after having her babies (they were hidden from our prying eyes), she brought one up to show off and placed him on my shoe. He was solid black, and looked like a tiny baby bear.
