There was this Japanese tv series from the mid 90’s called “The Chef”. It was about this really good chef that would be called to make special dishes and he had the uncanny ability to make it just how the client described it. I remember there was an old dying client who wanted to taste something his mother or grandmother made when he was young and The Chef was able to recreate it. This reminded me of that show.

When my aunt was in the hospital with a brain tumor all she could eat was liquids/pureed food. Her favorite soup was butternut squash soup from a very specific place. We called to see if they had any but it was out of season and wasn't on the menu. When the chef heard why we wanted it, he cooked up a special batch just for my aunt.
