To whoever told me to leave my car at the pub and take the bus home; turns out I was in no fit state to drive that either.

Omg. This happened to me years ago...the memories!!

I lived on a bus route with busses every 15 mins most of the day.

The bus entered a garden a few houses down and scraped across the front of them all before shunting my neighbours car onto my property and coming to a stop.

I was playing Everquest. Gates of Discord had just been released so this was 2004. I had headphones on and felt the bus more than I heard it.

I opened my front door to to find it perfectly aligned with the bus door. I pulled the emergency door open lever (always wanted to do that!) and found the driver slumped over the wheel. It was late so only a couple of dazed looking passengers were on board. Went to see if the driver was ok. But he was locked in his cabin area. He slowly lifted up and groaned “not again”!!!

This was back in the day when MMS was the main way I shared pics. Facebook had only been going for a few months at this point and the iPhone was still three years away. I took a pic on my Nokia and sent my mate a grainy low-res image of the carnage. 20 minutes later 4 mates turned up in a taxi to witness it for themselves.

By that time emergency services had arrived and sorted out everyone on the bus. It was just the police waiting for the tow trucks to arrive. One of my mates lay under the front of my neighbours car and got his brother to take a photo while shouting “where there’s blame there’s a claim!!” all the police were grinning except one who firmly instructed him to move away.

My neighbour started taking stuff out of his car ready for it to be towed away. Strangely the police asked if I was ok with him doing that, not sure why he would need my permission just coz it was in my garden?

When the tow trucks came they were actually flatbeds and the one for the bus was massive. I remember watching the bus slowly being dragged off by winch, taking garden and raised beds with it!

The bus company insurance took care of the damage within a few weeks, luckily the house had a light scrape but was inspected and found to be just fine!

I have no idea what happened to the driver afterwards.

I had forgotten about it but this pic has brought it all flooding back thank you!
