Responding to critics of her “WAP” performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards, rapper Cardi B said people should consume and judge her work like adults.
“I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults,” she wrote on Instagram regarding the uproar over her performance with Megan Thee Stallion. “Parents are responsible on [sic] what their children listen too [sic] or see… I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be. … My daughter doesn’t need to listen to music to be empowered neither should your children. … I never ever said that WAP was made to empower women. I’m just a freaky person and this is not the first sex song ever made. Stop expecting celebs to raise your kids.”
Most commenters on the thread agreed with Cardi B’s take on the matter.
“If you allow your kids to listen to WAP it’s your fault not Cardi’s. Be your own child’s role model,” one person said.
“She said what she said!!! Celebrities aren’t meant to raise our children. That’s what we are here for! To set examples first and foremost. My kids have never heard the song and that’s how I choose to raise them,” someone added.

Jello Biafra made the same point when he was on Oprah's show when one of the ladies involved with the "parental supervision is advised" label on music records.
He says she should listen to the songs on the album and form an opinion. She says something along the lines of "EVERY SONG? THAT'S A LOT OF TIME" and he's like "👀but that's yo kids tho👀

Edit: If anyone is interested, Dee Snider made the same point while appearing in front of congress many years ago. Both rock stars are very eloquently spoken when presenting, they make many of the same points. Very much suggest you watch the whole thing as it's quite the speech and exchange of words.
