I wanna carve out it's back and fill it with dip, then take the back carvings and dice them up and dunk em in hot cheese.

Crocodile Bread is important in Betawi society's marriage ceremony because they want all the good qualities about crocodiles to seep into the marriage.

Like crocodiles have only one mate (signifies monogamy), they're patient enough to wait for their prey & partner (signifies dedication), they can live on land and water which means the married couple will be able to survive in adverse conditions during bad times. I'm sure crocodiles have more good qualities (from the perspective of humans).

Also, before the arrival of the Europeans who introduced bread, the crocodile shaped dish was made from yam or cassava so this tradition is old. This is handmade and no mold is used.

Big crocodile bread signifies groom and small crocodile bread is for the bride!

PS - Betawi is in Jakarta, Indonesia and the bakery in the picture is in Vietnam. I don't know what the significance it has there.
