I love these stories, I think they should also include that it did not adversely affect his life. He improved their lives 1000%, and he did not have to change his life style.

I respect people like this so much!

Well, there is this old adage about giving a fish vs. teaching to fish. The part that is always left out is that until the fishing is learned, the teacher is giving the student fish to eat.

Another good one is that one can’t pull themselves up by their bootstraps if they have no boots.

When basic needs of shelter, food and safety are not met, people can not truly grow. One can not move into areas of self improvement when they are constantly in the cycle of shelter-food-safety. Those basics are the most costly and stressful, leaving people in a perpetual state of not being able to move forward. Many do, but when you get to the foundation of their story, there is near always someone or many that sacrificed their own shelter-food-safety to propel them out. It is the story of a person drowning to save others who were drowning.

P.S. We have massive amounts of data that prove over and over again that we can at little expense bring people out of the darkness and into the light. We elect intentionally to keep a class structure. It’s a disturbing psychological disorder that there must always be someone “below” the average so that we somehow feel better about ourselves, our accomplishments, our class status.

Edit - two minor spelling grammar corrections. I hate to type stupid.
