Do this and blow a hairdryer in the hole. Gets hot enough to melt aluminium. I tried to melt aluminium cans once like this in what I thought was a steel pan. Turned out the pan was aluminium and the whole thing melted.
We were taught this in survival school as a way to make a fire that’s not visible to those looking for you. (Yes I know IR would pick it up, I didn’t teach the class, the Navy did).
