A 10 year old boy who had been terminally ill had asked for a Lego casket to be buried in. Thankfully someone was able to make that happen for him using 26,000 Lego bricks.

My cousin and I were at our grandfather’s funeral about 4 years ago. At the funeral home, my cousin (about 18 at the time) said he always hoped someday, when his time came, that people would be happy at his funeral, dress casually and have a drink for him. It was more of a passing convo and not a direct wish.

Well almost one year later, my cousin died tragically in an accident. We honored his wish and dressed in jeans and t-shirts, drank a lot of beers (a bit secretly) in the parking lot, and tried to keep the event cheerful with stories. Obviously, there were a fuck load of tears. I will never forget the screams and cries of my aunt, especially before they opened the doors to let our family into the room initially. It will haunt me forever. Needless to say, I’m glad these people could honor this child’s request. No parent should ever have to bury their child. Everyone needs to realize how precious each day is and live life to the fullest. Because it can be ripped away before ya know it.
