Regarding the Dr Seuss thing, there’s an unironic meme/political cartoon getting posted around conservative reddit that says “only leftists ban books.” The fucking audacity of these projection-happy idiots, when almost every book in the US that has ever been banned was banned by rightwing conservatives. The idiocy is so real and so pervasive.
The problem with all these witty tweets is that, almost without exception, they are all preaching to the choir. There's no more dialogue, only people becoming more entrenched and ossified in their existing worldviews. And even when those outlooks are objectively more informed, progressive and forward-looking, the divide itself still remains and grows deeper. I am genuinely unsure how this gap will be bridged, and when, but it is obvious that this will take far more than just one or two presidencies.
