People forget that there was a lot more than Anakins betrayal making her lose the will to live...the destruction of everything she fought for her entire life helped...
The problem is the premise of the movie means Padme can't be effective. She can't dissuade Anakin from the Dark Side, because he has to be Darth Vader. She can't save the Republic, because it has to be replaced by the Empire. She can't get Palpatine removed from office, because he has to be the Emperor. She can't even survive, because in the Original Trilogy she's dead. All of her character's goals at the start of the movie are doomed by canon, which doesn't leave a lot of ways for the movie to focus on her and let her be effective.

She completely hid the delegation of 2000 from Anakin. It was to be 100% in secret, even from family and loved ones.
