Multiple women accuse GOP’s Madison Cawthorn of sexual harassment

Multiple women are accusing North Carolina representative Madison Cawthorn of sexual harassment, amid wider scrutiny that the 25-year-old Republican may have exaggerated parts of his backstory before becoming the youngest member of Congress.

Former classmates made the allegations to CNN and the Washington Post, saying the hard-right congressman would offer to take them on “fun drives” while he was a student at Virginia’s Patrick Henry College, where he would proposition them.

“His MO was to take vulnerable women out on these rides with him in the car, and to make advances,” his former classmate Caitlin Coulter told CNN.

She says the North Carolina congressman asked her about her purity ring and sexual experiences. She became uncomfortable and shut down the conversation, allegedly sending Mr Cawthorn into a road rage.

“He got really upset. And he whipped the car around and started going back to campus at 70-80 miles an hour on these one-lane roads,” she continued. “And it was – it was really scary.”

Katrina Krulikas, who knew the congressman through a home-school network, told the Post that when she was 17, Mr Cawthorn drove her into a deserted part of town and tried to kiss her without consent.

“I definitely would classify it as sexual assault because he knew I said no,” she said.

Leah Petree, another classmate, told the Post Mr Cawthorn would badger her about going on a “fun drive,” where she says the then-student “insinuated some sexual activity” would take place. Later, after rejecting his offer, Mr Cawthorn allegedly screamed at Ms Petree when she tried to get him to stop asking another female student questions about sex.

“He got really angry and looked at me and screamed at me with a lot of anger,” Ms Petree told the Post.

The North Carolina Republican reportedly called her “ ‘just a little, blond, slutty American girl.”

After the incident, a man reportedly confronted Mr Cawthorn about calling Ms Petree a slut, and the representative texted her to complain. When she said she didn’t know who it was who approached him, Mr Cawthorn reportedly responded with a veiled threat: “I have some old friends who would love to meet him.”

The allegations, some of which were previously reported, inspired more than 150 students who knew Mr Cawthorn to put out a letter in October denouncing his candidacy for Congress because of his “gross misconduct towards our female peers.”

Mr Cawthorn’s office directed The Independent to statements he made in September regarding the allegations.

“I have never done anything sexually inappropriate in my life,” Mr Cawthorn said at the time. “If I have a daughter, I want her to grow up in a world where people know to explicitly ask before touching her. If I had a son, I want him to be able to grow up in a world where he would not be called a sexual predator for trying to kiss someone,” he added.

The renewed focus on the allegations come after the Post on Saturday published an investigation suggesting Mr Cawthorn exaggerated details on the campaign trail about being left for dead in a car crash that paralysed him, and being accepted into the US Naval Academy and other elite schools.

“These questions were repeatedly asked and answered during the course of the campaign,” his office said in a statement to The Independent. “The voters of Western North Carolina responded to these allegations by giving Madison Cawthorn a 12-point victory over his opponent.”

I will continue to post this list I created in every thread I see about this giant racist piece of shit:

stolen valor he lied about becoming a Marine, he lied about being admitted to the naval academy, and he admitted to this lie under oath during a lawsuit implicating his insurance company. Source: https://politicalwire.com/2020/08/11/gop-candidate-was-rejected-from-naval-academy/

sexual assault in the one semester he spent in college (at one of the most ultra conservative college in America) before dropping out due to having straight Ds (his own admission), he was accused of sexual assault by a dozen women, in a letter signed by over 150 former classmates who corroborated the victim’s accounts. It was so bad and brazen that RAs and staff would warn female students to never be alone with him, and never get in his car. white supremacy he accused a political opponent of “leaving his career in Boston to go work for non-whites”. Like, he wrote that, on his website, as an insult. As a way to discredit someone. He later said the words were “taken out of context” and it was a “syntax error”. The name of his shell company is “SPQR Holdings”, and SPQR is a common acronym associated with white supremacist organizations. sources: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/republican-house-candidate-s-website-attacks-critic-going-work-non-n1244531

neo-nazi support he celebrated his visit to the Eagle’s Nest, on social media, saying it was a dream and a bucket list item to visit this place. Source: https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/north-carolina-gop-candidate-deletes-photos-hitler-retreat_n_5f32f340c5b6960c066d6972?ri18n=true

lying about Paralympics training he lied about training for the olympics by pretending he was actually on the verge of cracking the track and field Paralympic team. He posted all these insane videos where he talks about being obsessed with breaking the 100m world record, like he actually has a chance of breaking it. I could post videos online telling the world I’m obsessed with running a sub 2 hour marathon, doesn’t mean it’s a real thing... lying about his career he has never held a job in his adult life (EDIT: others have pointed out he worked at a Chick-Fil-A as a teen) Not one (EDIT in his adult life). He used the insurance payout from his car accident to buy a $20K foreclosed property in Georgia, registered an LLC with 0 employees and $0 top line revenue, and calls himself a “real estate investor”. EDIT: Adding 3 new salient points

lying about Harvard and Princeton As per fellow Nazi hater, "Cawthorn said in an earlier deposition he was accepted to Princeton and an online program at Harvard, along with other universities. He later revised his statements to say that he had not been admitted to Princeton and Harvard and that some of his statements about college admissions were “not accurate.”’ source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/02/27/making-madison-cawthorn-how-falsehoods-helped-propel-career-new-pro-trump-star-far-right/?tid=a_classic-iphone&no_nav=true

Lied about his car accident He said he heroically crawled out of a fiery crash, when in fact his friend dragged him out while he was unconscious. No shame in that itself, but once again a big lie. He has the signature of a 7 year old Not the most relevant point to expose his predatory behaviour and his racism, but this brain damaged shit bag literally signs his name like a second grader... https://www.dailydot.com/debug/madison-cawthorn-signature/

Here are the facts. He is a sexual predator. He is dumb (at a literal level). He is shameless. He is racist. He is the future of the GQP.

Edits: formatting, typos, and I clarified the holding company name, adding that there is no proof it was named as a white supremacist dog whistle, but it’s a(nother) strange coincidence

I see lots of Cuomo articles on Fox calling for his resignation and accusing Democrats of hypocrisy for... reasons. Dems didn’t call for an investigation quick enough or some suck bullshit. Never saw the articles for an investigation into Trump accusations or now Cawthown. What could be the difference?

He won't resign. He won't show shame. And his voters won't hold him accountable.
