While the exact amount has not been disclosed, the town's mayor told AFP that it was "a large amount."

His mayoral predecessor has suggested that the inheritance could total around two million euros ($2.4 million), according to France 3.

A small correction to the OP’s title: The exact amount has not been disclosed, just suggested.

This warms my heart. This was the town where my grandma and her sister were hidden. The town, Le-Chambon-sur-Lignon, was truly remarkable, and through their generosity, they were able to save thousands of children (source) during the Holocaust.

I had a cousin that was in the French Resistance. They did remarkable things which are hard to fathom in this day and age. Anything to disrupt the Nazi’s and cause them to expend their soldiers; especially when the German troops were running thin.

He described it like playing a game of Tag, but if you got caught, you were tortured to death!

There is no more room for hate in this world ! (except tics and mosquitoes)
