Ain't that the truth. It's one of the main reasons why American life expectancy has been trending down.

edit: Dont know why people are trying to dispute this simple fact. Thought it was common knowledge. We peaked in 2014. Looks really bad when you compare to other western nations.

Seriously. I have "good" insurance and still don't go to the doctor for fear of the bill. I went to the hospital last March for a Covid test, got my temperature taken, answered 3 questions and was told I don't qualify for a test (they were scarce back then ) and I was sent home. My out of pocket bill: $1200. Fuck this system.
