It wasn't really asked in this way. Bernie wanted to give the nomination based on a plurality of party delegates. The rest argued a majority should be achieved, presumably through run offs, so that the Dems had the best chance at beating Trump.
Their logic is sound. Achieving a majority would provide more broad support against an opponent than a plurality.

Because they all knew they’d lose if it was just based on votes. That’s why they teamed up against the one person who could win just based on votes 🙄
