This brave woman decided to embrace her true self and stop plucking her facial hair. I hope this inspires all the women out there who struggle with excessive hair growth and unrealistic beauty standards for women.

My ex has had to shave her jaw/ moustache/ neck, basically full beard area since she was a teenager. A few years back it became such a problem for her because it was causing all sorts of skin irritation- and she wasn't getting soft fuzzies grow through but actual stubble. Honestly, I feel so sorry for her. I went with her when she was tested for pcos, and she's tried medications and stuff but nothing stopped the hair. She can't afford laser removal either. I always told her it never bothered me, it really didn't, it just broke my heart seeing her with really sore looking skin every day, getting upset because she felt she had to get rid of that hair. Not just because she was embarrassed others would notice (she used to work retail and she'd be really aware and anxious about people noticing the shaving rashes/ cuts/ stubble too short to really remove) but because she felt it made her less of a woman. Luckily she found a cream that helps keep her skin soft and that's helped a lot, but I also think that having to wear a mask has eliminated at least a lot of the anxiety she had over it.

I see a lot of people immediately jumping to PCOS, when idiopathic hirsutism is fairly common. In fact, if you look at the Ferriman–Gallwey score, quite a bit of hair can be considered normal.

I wish women who were concerned about body hair weren't immediately met with how it must be a medical condition. Sometimes it's just how humans are. We're mammals.
