"Hey, we gotta choose what is important"

I'm from the UK, Scotland to be precise.

We have free at the point of use healthcare and tuition (for people born in Scotland). We're a small country and can manage it.

I have severe asthma and eczema. I've never had to pay a penny more than what my taxes pay for.

About a year ago I looked up the prices etc:

In the UK, we pay ££3279 ($4275) a year in taxes for the NHS. Even if I wasn't using it, I'm glad it is helping others. No extra costs for medical transport, doctor visits, hospital visits, lab work, surgery etc. We still have private options if we wish to use those. Meanwhile, in the US it's £9,070 ($11,582) per year (as of 2019) per head.

Last month I was diagnosed with cancer. My PET scan, bone marrow biopsy and MUGA scan (all 3 tests were done within ONE WEEK of my diagnosis) cost a total of... $0. I start chemo on the 23rd. Which will also cost a grand total of.... $0.

I would have died a long time ago without the NHS (I cannot imagine trying to refuse an ambulance and hospital visit that would bankrupt me whilst being unable to breathe). I seriously feel sorry for people in the US that have to go without healthcare. It's completely fucked up.

Coming from a marine, our war money went to fuck all any ways. Cancel student loans and see the economic boom.
