I remember seeing a statistic on the Death toll of World War 2 but of each of the soviet republics. Its shocking. Belarus was the highest, losing more than 25% of it population and it still hasn't recovered from it. The current population is still sub 1939 population which was the peak at around 10.5ish million people.
