Demon’s Souls, Miles Morales, and Ghost of Tsushima are the top-selling exclusives in January 2021 for the PS4 and PS5 according to NPD.

The Last of Us Part 2 was one of the fastest-selling PlayStation exclusives of all time, and the game itself is not doing that bad in terms of critical reception with a record-breaking game of the year awards. Despite the critical acclaim, it is Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima that has continued to main a strong presence in sales and charted in the top-selling games for the PS4 and PS5 this January.

NPD Analyst Matt Piscatella has shared a list of games that sold the best in January 2021. The best-selling PS4 and PS5 exclusives list is interesting because it not only contains the newcomers like Demon’s Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but also Ghost of Tsushima.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Madden NFL 21 Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition Demon’s Souls Ghost of Tsushima FIFA 21 NBA 21 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Matt has also shared an update on the multiplatform game sales of the last 12 months beginning in January 2020 until January 2021. This list includes both Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Animal Crossing: New Horizons Madden NFL 21 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla The Last of Us Part 2 Ghost of Tsushima Mario Kart 8: Deluxe Super Mario 3D All-Stars Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Ghost of Tsushima started slower than The Last of Us Part 2 but has maintained healthy sales with long legs that make it continue to chart in the best selling games.

While The Last of Us Part 2 hasn’t received an upgrade for the PS5, Ghost of Tsushima was updated to add support for 60 FPS on the PS5. It is possible that this contributed to additional sales in addition to the launch of a multiplayer mode called Legends.

In the meanwhile, Naughty Dog has kept silent on the status of a potential PS5 update for The Last of Us Part 2, or the multiplayer mode that has been confirmed to be in development but still hasn’t received any status update since last year.

It’s a fantastic game. Sucker Punch did an amazing job.

Tlou2 had big day 1/week 1 sales, whereas GOT is a new IP, so less fanfare, but more legs, so it's not really surprising. Maybe tlou2 will jump in sales whenever they release the ps5 patch, cause I've come across quite a few who are waiting for the patch.

I loved both of them. Glad more people are buying GOT as well. Looks absolutely stunning in its art style, especially on the ps5, but even on the PS4 it was fantastic. I don't regret beating it on the base PS4 when it came out

Do we really have to bring up TLOU2 every time this game is mentioned?
