They're liars! "$2,000 check" implies one check, not sum, but a check. Only a non-native English speaker or liar would misinterpret this.

Basing relief on 2019 (pre-pandemic) income leaves a lot of people behind who are/were unemployed or whose income went down in 2020.

Simple solution: give everyone the $2,000 they were promised, then tax the ultra rich slightly more to account for the check that they didn't need. It really isn't that complicated, and no one gets left out. Not to say that the rich shouldn't be taxed a lot more - they should - but I'm just speaking specifically to the issue.

To her first point, it is absolutely bonkers to me that a city like Chicago spends 39% of their budget on police.

New York City spends more on policing than it does on the Departments of Health, Homeless Services, Housing Preservation and Development, and Youth and Community Development combined.

In the 100,000 population city I live in, 32% of the city's $81M budget goes to the police this year. Nuts.
