That’s the bad news. But we knew that. The good news is that the Impeachment Managers have made a brilliant and rock-solid case and the clowns who continue to support Trump will be now and forever on the record for the choices they are about to make. Let them insist that the World is flat. Their grandchildren and their families will live with that shame for generations. There will be no way for them to undo the votes they will be making. They will be forever marked as stains in the American story. Like Trump. Like his vile children.

The outcome was obvious two weeks ago when they first voted on the constitutionality question and 45 of them voted that is was unconstitutional (despite most scholars saying it was constitutional). McConnell made sure the trial was delayed until after he left office, so then they could all hide behind the process argument and not actually have to defend on the merits, though some of the more despicable ones like Graham are trying on that front too.

What fix? They said they were going to acquit him before the trial began. They didn’t even pay attention to the evidence. Some Senators left the room.
