Could also be a “filter class” meant to thin out students and enforce a grade curve, which is just as unethical and scummy

When our math teacher was starting with Trigonometry for the first time in 11th grade, he asked us how many of us liked Trig or were interested in it. Almost everyone raises their hands (duh, why would you take advanced math if you didn't like math). Then he goes on to say that by the end of the semester, everyone gon be crying over trig math problems.

Damn he was right.

I’ve had really good teacher’s who said this though, basically if they teach all the material well, give you tons of problems to practice with (literally past exams) and are very transparent, but the tests are super hard, you can’t complain.

They basically say here is everything you need and here is what the test is going to be like, if you don’t study you won’t pass, simple as that.
